![]() In fact Interscope had not intended to release this song as a single until the aforementioned remix rather blew up. This song was made public on 29 June 2009 as the second single from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ third album, It’s Blitz. It has become better known by its remix as rendered by a Canadian DJ named A-Trak, which also came out in 2009. And it is a bit strange, so to speak, that partygoers would take a liking to a song with such dark lyrics. And it should be noted that ravers happens to be some of the band’s biggest fans. It would therefore be strange for the band members to criticize this category of people.īut that being said, there is definitely some type of horror motif going on here. In other words, whereas the lyrics are intentionally macabre, there doesn’t seem to be any direct indication that the band actually meant it to be a criticism of ravers. It is totally worth your four hours. And what we also know is that when the Yeah Yeah Yeahs wrote it, they were actually seeking to put together a tune that “was just fun to write”. ![]() If you have an Audible membership and you hadn’t heard of this comedy, you better use a credit and go download it. It’s like South Park meets Disenchantment. ![]() The audio comedy overall is very clever, witty, and raunchy AF. It was hard to hear exactly what the singers were saying. The Singingĭon’t get me wrong, I love singing and music in fictional works but I will admit that there were a few occasions where the singing could have been performed better. ![]() The faux commercials that appeared sporadically throughout the audiobook was HILARIOUS and well thought-out. She also has a harem of f*ck boys and she calls them that. For example, Queen Mortuana owns a “shell phone,” which is how she communicates with her mother, JoJo, and various important people in her life. The universe in the story interweaves aspects of modern society into medieval society. In fact, JoJo’s encounter with a particular character, voiced by one of my favorite Game of Thrones actors Peter Dinklage, is hysterical. JoJo also gets her own storyline, so it’s not all focused on the queen. Queen Mortuana has flaws and her life is extravagant but her personality and her world is very satiric. Kate McKinnon plays a silly, albeit evil/corrupt, queen who is relateable.
